How To Build A Better Photography Portfolio

Either you have figured out that you would like to get serious about photography or you are looking to improve your picture taking abilities. What great timing! The next few paragraphs are full of tips that will start you off on the right foot as you find your way through the world of photography.

Apply digital techniques in order to make pictures that look like watercolors, oil paintings, graphic pencil sketches, etc. There are a variety of photo editing programs out there, but all the cool kids use Photoshop. They are renowned for their ability to view the subject at the same time you snap the shot. You should get a full-frame DSLR, as they have big image sensors and capture the most detailed shots.

An important factor in photography composition, is framing. Use your zoom feature to take away objects that might draw attention where you do not want it. This will unclutter the photograph as well as eliminating unnecessary focal points.

While the background is important, what the viewer is going to notice first is the foreground of the landscape. Be sure your foreground is well composed so that your picture will be strikingly framed and create a great illusion of depth.

Perhaps the best way to get high quality photos is to take a lot of pictures, so it’s important that your camera has a big memory card. When you increase the memory on your camera with a larger memory card, you will better be able to avoid running out of memory when you are shooting a lot of pictures. A spacious memory card will also enable you to shoot in RAW, presenting more opportunities for editing in the post production phase.

Consider taking photographs of the souvenirs bought on your trip. You could take a picture of the store where you bought something or simply photograph the object with an original background. This helps you create an interesting photo essay around the souvenirs you selected that can increase your enjoyment of the photos once you return home.

Get creative with different perspectives and scales in your photography. You can make any object look interesting by placing it in an unusual context. Putting an object somewhere creative can help something familiar look very unique.
